In tourist jargon, by the term Caribbean we mean this “arrow” of 7.000 islands dotting a stretch of 2.000 Km of sea, starting off the coast of Florida and ending on the North of Venezuela. The Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos are included, though typically they belong to the Atlantic. The biggest and most populous island, the queen of the Caribbean is Cuba. The typical cart postal concept of the Caribbean is “white powder-sand beaches, turquoise waters, coconut trees, a hammock”. The cliché is largely true, but there’s much more to the Caribbean than just this.
Each of the islands, the biggest of which constitute autonomous nations, has its own distinctive character and culture. Ever since the 60s some of them have been established in the travel conscience, the latter being inclined to explore more obscure paradise lands lately, where the locals finally take their rightful place in the tourist agenda. You can focus on a specific island or a complex, which you’ll reach by air, or you may opt for a cruise to help you get a more general feel of the area which is a top cruise destination. The only thing you’ll have to do is choose the combination of the islands you wish to visit.
